Sorted and Saved

Privacy Policy

What we collect, why we collect it, and how to get it removed.

This policy explains what information Sorted & Saved (https://sortedandsaved.com) collects when
you visit, why we collect it, who it is shared with, and how you can have it
removed. We have tried to write it in plain English rather than legalese.

Effective date: 31 July 2026

Who we are

Sorted & Saved is a personal publication about home organization, meal planning,
and household budgeting. The site is operated from Bosnia and Herzegovina and
hosted by Hostinger International Ltd.

For anything in this policy, contact us at
privacy@sortedandsaved.com.

Information you give us

Comments

When you leave a comment we collect the name, email address, and any website
address you enter in the comment form, along with your IP address and browser
user agent string. The email address is not published. IP and user agent are
retained because they are how spam filtering works.

An anonymized string created from your email address (a hash) may be sent to
the Gravatar service to see whether you have a profile picture. Gravatar’s
privacy policy is available at
automattic.com/privacy.

Newsletter

If you subscribe, we store the email address you provide so we can send you
the newsletter and any free printable you requested. We do not sell or rent
that address, and every email includes a one-click unsubscribe link. Choosing
not to subscribe does not restrict any part of the site.

Contact

If you email us directly, we keep the message and your address for as long
as it takes to deal with your query, and to keep a record if you write again.

Information collected automatically

Server logs

Like effectively every website, our host records standard access logs: IP
address, the page requested, the time, your browser and operating system, and
the page you arrived from. These are used for security, spam prevention, and
diagnosing faults. They are not used to build a profile of you.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored by your browser. We use them for:

  • Comments. If you leave a comment, you may opt in to saving your name, email, and website in a cookie so you do not have to retype them. These last one year. If you do not tick that box, no comment cookie is set.
  • Performance. Our caching layer may set a cookie to serve pages faster. It contains no personal information.
  • Logging in. If you have an account here, standard WordPress session cookies are set when you log in. Almost nobody reading this will have one.
  • Advertising. See the advertising section below.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking them will
not break the site, though the comment convenience feature will stop working.

Embedded content from other sites

Articles may include embedded content such as videos or social posts.
Embedded content behaves exactly as if you had visited that other website
directly — those sites may collect data about you, use cookies, and track your
interaction with the embed. We have no control over what they collect.

Analytics

We use, or may in future use, a website analytics service to understand which
articles are read and how people arrive at the site. Analytics data is handled
in aggregate — page views, traffic sources, rough geography, device type. We do
not use it to identify individual readers, and we do not attempt to link
analytics data to any name or email address you have given us.

Advertising

This site is, or is intended to be, supported by display advertising. Where
ads are served, the ad network and its partners may use cookies or similar
technologies to show ads they believe are relevant to you, to limit how many
times you see the same ad, and to measure whether ads work.

You can control personalized advertising from Google at
adssettings.google.com,
and opt out of interest-based advertising from many networks at
optout.aboutads.info
or youronlinechoices.com
in the EU. Opting out does not remove ads; it makes them less relevant.

If you are in the EU, UK, or a US state with an applicable privacy law, you
will be shown a consent notice on your first visit and can change your choice at
any time.

Affiliate links

Some articles contain affiliate links. If you buy something through one, we
may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate links are
disclosed on the articles that contain them. The retailer, not us, handles any
personal or payment information involved in a purchase.

Images

Photographs on this site are licensed stock images, credited to the
photographer with a link to the source. If you upload an image to the site in a
comment, avoid uploading images with embedded location data, as visitors can
extract it.

Pinterest

Articles include a button that lets you save an image to Pinterest. The
button is a plain link — it sets no cookies and sends nothing to Pinterest
unless you click it. Once you do, Pinterest’s own privacy policy governs what
happens next.

Who we share data with

We do not sell your personal information. Data is shared only with the
service providers who make the site work:

  • Hostinger — web hosting and server logs
  • Our email provider — newsletter delivery, if you subscribe
  • Our analytics provider — aggregate traffic measurement
  • Our advertising partners — ad delivery and measurement

We may also disclose information if we are legally required to.

How long we keep it

  • Comments and their metadata are kept indefinitely so follow-up replies can be recognized and approved automatically.
  • Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe.
  • Server logs are typically kept for a short rolling period by our host.
  • Emails you send us are kept as long as needed to handle the matter.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to show you what personal data we hold about
you, correct it if it is wrong, or delete it. Email
privacy@sortedandsaved.com and we will respond within
30 days.

If you are in the EU or UK (GDPR), you additionally have the
right to receive your data in a portable format, to restrict or object to
processing, to withdraw consent at any time, and to lodge a complaint with your
national data protection authority. Our lawful bases for processing are your
consent (newsletter, optional cookies) and legitimate interest (site security,
spam prevention, aggregate analytics).

If you are in California (CCPA/CPRA), you have the right to
know what personal information is collected and for what purpose, to request
deletion, to opt out of sale or sharing of personal information, and not to be
discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell personal
information as that term is commonly understood.

Note that we cannot delete data we are obliged to keep for legal,
administrative, or security reasons.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly
collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us
personal information, email us and we will delete it.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS, and access to the administration area is
restricted and protected by strong authentication. No website can promise
perfect security, but we take reasonable steps to protect the limited data we
hold.

International transfers

Our hosting, email, analytics, and advertising providers may process data on
servers outside your country, including in the United States. Where required,
those transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual
Clauses.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page when what we do changes — for example if we add a
new analytics or advertising provider. The effective date at the top will
change with it. Material changes will be noted on the page.
