SolarAPP+ (Solar Automated Permit Processing Plus) is a free online platform developed with the national laboratory formerly called NREL that checks a standard residential solar design against code requirements and lets participating cities and counties issue a permit automatically, often the same day. Only jurisdictions that have adopted it accept it, and many limit which projects qualify; battery storage, ground mounts or electrical panel upgrades sometimes need the standard review instead. Faster permitting can shorten the time from contract to permission to operate. Our city pages note whether the city accepts SolarAPP+, with a link to the city's own permitting page.
