What Entergy Arkansas pays for exported solar
For a new rooftop system, Entergy Arkansas credits exported energy at about 3.34¢ per kWh[1], against an average Arkansas residential price of 13.74¢[2]. Every kWh you send to the grid earns this rate; power you draw is billed at retail.
Other Arkansas utilities, co-ops and municipal utilities set their own rates; check your utility's current tariff.
State rules that apply
- What the rule says: “Avoided Cost of the Company to all kWhs supplied to the Company by a Net-Metering Customer during the applicable billing period to be credited to the total bill”[1]
What it means for sizing and batteries
When exports earn much less than retail, each kWh you use at home as it is produced is worth more than one you export. Size to your daytime and evening use, shift loads (laundry, dishwasher, EV charging) to sunny hours or the plan's off-peak window, and price a battery against the gap between the retail and export rates.
The calculator uses the statewide rule until we add utility rates. See what solar costs in Arkansas.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Does Arkansas have net metering?
For Entergy Arkansas systems interconnected after September 30, 2024, energy drawn from the grid is billed at normal rates and every kWh sent to the grid is credited as a dollar bill credit at the utility's avoided cost (about 3.3 cents/kWh in 2026), set yearly. Systems installed earlier keep legacy 1:1 kWh crediting until June 1, 2040.
