What Entergy Mississippi pays for exported solar
For a new rooftop system, Entergy Mississippi credits exported energy at about 6.10¢ per kWh[1], against an average Mississippi residential price of 15.06¢[2]. Every kWh you send to the grid earns this rate; power you draw is billed at retail.
Other Mississippi utilities, co-ops and municipal utilities set their own rates; check your utility's current tariff.
State rules that apply
- What the rule says: “All kilowatt hours received by Company from the Customer as recorded on Channel 2 shall be assigned a dollar value as excess energy credits.”[1]
What it means for sizing and batteries
When exports earn much less than retail, each kWh you use at home as it is produced is worth more than one you export. Size to your daytime and evening use, shift loads (laundry, dishwasher, EV charging) to sunny hours or the plan's off-peak window, and price a battery against the gap between the retail and export rates.
The calculator uses the statewide rule until we add utility rates. See what solar costs in Mississippi.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Does Mississippi have net metering?
Customers of investor-owned utilities buy all grid power at retail and get a bill credit for each exported kWh at the utility's avoided cost plus a 2.5 cents/kWh distributed generation adder (Entergy Mississippi: 6.1 cents/kWh in 2026; 8.1 cents for low-to-moderate income households). Leftover credits carry forward monthly.
